Maine Pyar Kiya, 25 Years Later: 10 Things You Didn't Know

If you grew up in the Eighties, then its unlikely that Maine Pyar Kiya - starring Salman Khan and Bhagyashree and directed by Sooraj Barjatya - did not, in some way, form at least some of your ideas about the dynamics between men and women and how romances ought to be conducted. MPK, as it became known, released on December 29, 1989 and to celebrate it's 25th anniversary, here are 10 things about the film only a true fan would know.

1. Salman Khan wasn't the first choice for the role of Prem - far from it. Vindoo Dara Singh, Deepak Tijori and Faraaz Khan - son of Yusuf Khan who played the villainous Zabisco in Amar Akbar Anthony - were reportedly considered before Salman was cast.

2. Salman and actor Mohnish Bahl auditioned for MPK together. They ended up playing hero and villain. In two subsequent Barjatya productions, they played brothers - Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Hum Saath Saath Hain.

3. MPK was not Salman's debut film. He appeared in Biwi Ho Toh Aisi the year before in a supporting role.

4. Salman reportedly got no film offers for a whole year after MPK.

5. Costumes and props used in the films became so popular that they went on sale as merchandise - like the cap that read 'FRIEND.'

6. Before MPK, Bhagyashree co-starred with now-director Ashutosh Gowariker in the TV serial Kachchi Dhoop, Amol Palekar's adaptation of the novel Little Women.

7. Many of the film's cast went on to become Barjatya regulars, appearing in at least one more Barjatya film - Alok Nath, Reema Lagoo, Ajit Vachani, Rajeev Verma, Mohnish Behl, Laxmikanth Berde and, of course, Salman himself.

8. Actress Pervin Dastur was picked from the Mumbai theatre scene to play the vampy Seema. She only appeared in one other film, 1997's little known Dil Ke Jharokhe Mein.

9. The first scene that was filmed was the one between Salman and his father, played by Rajeev Verma, in the office. Filming took place in Mumbai and Ooty.

10. Until Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge came along in 1995, MPK held the record for the maximum Filmfare Awards, winning seven out of 13 nominations. DDLJ took over with 10 wins. The record is currently held by Black, with 11 wins.

Jalal to save Jodha from Khyber again

In coming episodes of Jodha Akbar Khyber will kidnaps Jodha and take her away from Palace to some Mountains.Jodha gains conscious and tries to run away from there while Khyber following her back. Jalal frantically looks for Jodha and spots the two on mountain and runs to save Jodha ,but when Khyber sees Jalal approaching towards Jodha he attacks him to kill,but Jalal fights back and if sources are to be believed Khyber track might end as Jalal will kill him. Gossip is that Jalal actually didn’t fall for Jodha but in return is trying to know who is the one wanted to attack him and Jodha in his own Kingdom and is acting to find real culprit.Soon Atifa’s real face will also be showed where she is pawn of Maha Chuchak. Jalal after returning with Jodha from Khyber’s kidnap will be angry with Jodha for going to meet Khyber and releasing him and also announces his marriage with Atifa shocking her. Kapilians choose Comedy Nights over "BankChor"

Kapil Sharma recently said that he will have to cut down on his TV show Comedy Nights with Kapil to work in his Bollywood debut Bank Chor.  A news paper website ran a poll asking readers if they prefer the comedian on their TV sets or are they excited to see him on the silver screen.  

Interestingly, more than 60% of the readers who took the poll said they would prefer Comedy Nights with Kapil over his upcoming cinematic venture.  


Kapil said, "By now, somehow managing my schedules has become a habit for me. I am talking to you early in the morning after having worked on my show for 36 hours. Doing two episodes every week means I've to provide at least 70 minutes of content every week. It's not easy to think up funny gags every 10 seconds. We can't afford to let our audience get bored for even a few moments," said Kapil.  

Gopi and Ahem to get married once again in Star Plus' Saathiya

The estranged couple Ahem (Mohammad Nazim) and Gopi (Devoleena Bhattacharjee) have been separated for long in Star Plus’ Saath Nibhana Saathiya (Rashmi Sharma Productions). But now, the family will see some happy time with the couple coming together yet again. 

As earlier informed by Tellychakkar.com, the family has decided to get Ahem and Radha (Bhavini Purohit) married, after considering the fact that Ahem has been living a solitude life for years now. But fate obviously will have better plans for Ahem as he will marry his own wife and not Radha.

And it will be the smart kids in the family who will be the ones to bring the couple together. It will so happen that Jigar (Vishal Singh) and Rashi’s (Rucha Hasabnis) twins Samir and Sahar would have joined the same school where Gopi teaches and would have befriended Vidya (Gopi and Ahem’s daughter).

While talking about family and weddings, they will exchange family pictures, and this will be when they will get to know that they belong to the same family. Seeing that her parents will never manage to unite if the wedding happens, Vidya will seek the twins’ help and they will chalk out the master plan.

Informs a source, “They will drug Gopi and dress her up as a bride and keep her in Radha’s place. And only when the wedding will be complete, the family will get to know about the exchange.”

So will Ahem accept this marriage or will his hatred towards Gopi make him break ties with her once again?

Sohail Khan to be Back on Comedy Circus

Director Sohail Khan will be back as judge on ‘Comedy Circus’, replacing his actor-filmmaker brother Arbaaz Khan.

Sohail, 43, who was originally judging ‘Comedy Circus’, had opted out of the show as he was set to direct Salman Khan starrer ‘Jai Ho’, which released in January this
year. Arbaaz had then replaced his brother as the judge on the show.

Now, Arbaaz is taking a break for his upcoming home production film ‘Dolly Ki Doli’, starring Sonam Kapoor.

Sohail, who was originally judging the show, will take over, sources said. ‘Comedy Circus’ is a reality-based comedy show which brings television actors to perform with professional comedian partners.

women from Filmcity came to ask him for saris.
Salman send a unit hand to purchase 35 saris.
2. Once while shooting for Dabangg in a village
Salman got to know that children in that village
had to walk for an hour to go to school, So he
asked his P.A to provide cycles to the children.
The next day more than 100 cycles were donated
for the children in village.
3. While promoting Jai Ho where ever Salman
went he helped a few needy people over there by
providing them Medical help, Cash and Kind..

Khan is the FIRST BONE MARROW Donor of
INDIA.. Looking at the fear people in their mind
for donation of BONE MARROW, Salman started
spreading awareness on the same through his
charitable trust BEING HUMAN and since then
crores of people have pledged to donate BONE
MARROW and have registered for the same..
